In this room ephemeral beauty, lightness, and depth are combined. Each work becomes a diffused lens exchanging information with us in the most delicate subtlety perceivable. There are layer upon layer of stories, dreams, somehow cushioning time, allowing it to breathe in and out without change. In Amy Sands' works, we see layer upon layer of lace patterns over different colors, the circular works become like the blue iris, composed of lines and levels of intimacy, a soft skin to be peered through. Valeria Divinorum's Hypercube, defies the object as it casts a presence according to the availability of light, it scatters colors and patterns across the room, and in doing so, its borders are not confined, but extend as far as the light can travel. Perhaps this is the connection I see for this work to the Krolokowski Art duo's Crimean Dream, a diffused experience through which light travels and expands memory and time itself. Krolikowski Art's analog photo series portrays their time before their escape from Sebastopol, before the war forced them to leave the serenity we see in these reveries, the summer sun, the bather immersed in the rose tinted water. One sees life in rose pink, beautiful youth, the landscape, the serene moments, each of them in a portrait; Alexandra with the images of rabbits dancing over her head painted on a white wall and Alexander with the wind in his hair on what would appear a graceful autumn day. The bus stop eternally waiting for the next bus. These moments are not lonely, but full with hope, longing, perhaps for what was and will never be again, but they are not sad, just fixed in memory, in a time, in a place. Again in their latest film work, Serenity, the green algae in the water against the hand that moves to the electronic version of Bach, adds a texture of color movement, presence and disembodiment.
In the woven works of Francesca Piñol, we see the story of landscapes, of water, of reflections. Traces, captures fleeting moments in subtle textures and overlapping colors much like those in Amy Sand's works. Piñol's stories are of a place in the arctic, a place where time uncovers and is recovered in ice, literally frozen to be rediscovered in other seasons. The colors delicately unfold, ripple, furl, and demonstrate the presence of wind, water, rain. We also see this story told in her film, White Silence, created in the arctic.
In the analog photographs, of Andrei Farcasanu we see captured moments small moments of daily meditation in his lith print technique with the range of tones from a pastel sienna to a darker umber. A cloud becomes a protagonist in the story, lily pads live waiting for their frog princes, there is an eternal stillness.
